Gold futures fell below $3,250 per troy ounce for the first time since April 15 at COMEX, a division of the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX), data from this trading platform showed.
Gold fell 2.01 percent to $3,247 per troy ounce.
Later, however, gold slowed its decline and traded at $3,249.3 per troy ounce (-1.96 percent).
