The Indian Army has received a new batch of Russian Igla-S man-portable surface-to-air missiles and air defense systems to strengthen its air defense capabilities amid rising tensions with Pakistan following the Pahalgam terrorist attack that killed 26 people. This was reported by India Today.

These missiles are being deployed in forward formations to counter enemy aircraft, drones and attack helicopters.

Along with the new supply of Igla-S missiles, the Indian Army has also floated a tender to procure 48 more launchers and around 90 VSHORADS (IR) missiles under an expedited procedure.
