The Palestinian movement Hamas has released a hostage with Israeli and US citizenship. This is stated in a statement published in the Telegram-channel of radicals.

“Some time ago, the Izzeddin al-Qassam Brigades (the military wing of Hamas) released hostage Idan Alexander, who holds Israeli and American citizenship,” the statement reads. Hamas confirmed that it is “ready for the immediate resumption of negotiations on a comprehensive and permanent ceasefire” in Gaza and warned that “continued fighting could lead to the deaths” of hostages remaining in the enclave.

 For its part, the Al Hadath TV channel reported that Idan Alexander has already been handed over to the staff of the International Committee of the Red Cross and is currently traveling with them to Israel, where the special envoy of the U.S. President Steven Whitkoff is already waiting for him.

The day before, Hamas confirmed that it would release Idan Alexander, who had been held in the Gaza Strip. At the same time, the movement emphasized that the release of the prisoner should be part of the measures taken to end the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, including the opening of all checkpoints on the border with the enclave and the entry of humanitarian aid there.

On April 15, the movement announced that Idan Alexander's place of detention had been bombed by Israel and that communication with the militants guarding him had been lost. There was no further official word on his condition.
