Following the UK, France and the USA, Germany has lifted range restrictions on weapons transferred to Ukraine. This was stated by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in an interview with the WDR TV channel.
"There are no longer any range restrictions for weapons that have been supplied to Ukraine, neither by the British, nor by the French, nor by us, nor by the Americans. This means that Ukraine can now defend itself, including, for example, by striking military positions on Russian territory. Until a certain point, it could not do that," RIA Novosti quoted Mertz as saying.
Last November, then US President Joe Biden first authorized Ukraine's use of ATACMS operational-tactical missiles to strike Russian territory. The UK and France gave similar authorization for their Storm Shadow and SCALP.
In mid-April, the German chancellor allowed the delivery of Taurus cruise missiles to the Kiev regime in coordination with European partners.
