Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan paid tribute in the city of Spitak to the casualties of the 1988 earthquake.
He was accompanied by President Vahagn Khachaturyan, National Assembly speaker Alen Simonyan, Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister’s Office Arayik Harutyunyan, Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Davit Khudatyan, and several others.
“In Spitak, paying tribute to the memory of the casualties of the December 7, 1988 earthquake,” the Armenian PM wrote on social media. Today is the day of remembrance for the casualties of the devastating Spitak Earthquake.
Thirty-seven years ago on this day, at 11:41 a.m. local time, this earthquake claimed 25,000 lives, and more than half a million people were left homeless.
