The official logo for the 17th Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17), which Armenia will host, has been presented.

The logo is based on the Yerevan blue butterfly, an endemic species characteristic of Armenia’s mountainous region, and which is on the Red List of threatened species.

The visual identity of COP17 is built around the aforesaid butterfly’s life cycle concept—egg, larva, pupa, and flight—which symbolizes continuity, diversity, and resilience in natural systems.

The butterfly’s outline consists of 23 colors corresponding to the goals of the global biodiversity framework, as well as one primary blue color representing the butterfly’s identity.

The color scheme emphasizes COP17’s main focus: ensuring the sustainability and viability of nature through action.

The COP17 slogan, “Taking Action for Nature,” reflects the core of current environmental policy, calling for a shift from initiatives to targeted and coordinated actions.
