US Vice President JD Vance, who is in Armenia on an official visit, on Tuesday morning visited the Armenian Genocide Memorial in Yerevan, with his wife Usha Vance.
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, however, was not with them.
The US Vice President was welcomed by the director of the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute, Edita Gzoyan; the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Armenia, Zhanna Andreasyan; and Chargé d’Affaires, ad interim of the US Mission in Armenia, David Allen, the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.
Edita Gzoyan accompanied JD Vance and his wife to the Armenian Genocide Memorial and presented the history of its construction.
Vance laid a wreath at the Armenian Genocide Memorial, and then the guests placed flowers at the eternal flame and observed a minute of silence to honor the innocent victims of the Armenian Genocide.
At the end of the visit, the US Vice President made a note in the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute’s book of honored guests, and wrote, “In solemn remembrance of the lives lost, we honor the resilience and enduring spirit of the Armenian people. May America and Armenia strive for a future of peace and understanding together.”
Also, Edita Gzoyan presented JD Vance with books on the Armenian Genocide and the Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) issue.
To note, the US Vice President did not enter the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute.
