Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received a delegation led by Gert Jan Koopman, Director General for Neighborhood and Enlargement Negotiations in the European Commission of the European Union (EU), the PM’s office informs.

The premier welcomed the delegation’s visit to Armenia and stressed the importance of the continued deepening of Armenia-EU cooperation. Also, Pashinyan lauded the EU’s consistent support for Armenia in strengthening democratic institutions, the rule of law, economic development, and public administration system reforms in the country.

Koopman, for his part, reaffirmed the European Commission’s readiness to continue assisting the reforms being implemented in Armenia and highlighted the progress made in expanding the EU-Armenia partnership. In addition, he attached importance to developing cooperation in economic resilience, digitalization, and infrastructure development.

At the subsequent meeting, the parties discussed the current programs of Armenia-EU cooperation, as well as future initiatives aimed at expanding economic opportunities, improving the investment climate, and strengthening regional stability.

Regional developments and the peace agenda were touched upon, too. In this connection, PM Pashinyan presented the positions of the Armenian government aimed at establishing stable and lasting peace in the region.

Furthermore, the parties reaffirmed their mutual readiness to continue their close cooperation.
