Minister of Internal Affairs Arpine Sargsyan on Wednesday received a delegation led Ambassador Vassilis Maragos, Head of the European Union (EU) Delegation to Armenia.
Sargsyan highly appreciated the close cooperation with the EU, and highlighted the implementation of joint programs and the results recorded in specific domains, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.
The minister of internal affairs presented the work being carried out by Armenia towards visa liberalization, and reaffirmed the country’s commitment to consistently continue the outlined steps.
Reflecting on Armenia’s partnership with EU organizations Frontex and Europol, Minister Sargsyan underscored the appointment of Armenia's liaison officer at Europol from the perspective of strengthening it.
In turn, Ambassador Maragos thanked the minister of internal affairs of Armenia for the effective cooperation, and emphasized the visible results recorded jointly.
Measures to combat drug trafficking and opportunities for expanding partnership were discussed, too.
During the meeting, details of the upcoming visit of EU Commissioner for Internal Affairs and Migration Magnus Brunner to Armenia were also discussed, which will mark the start of a new phase of cooperation.
