North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has been re-elected as secretary general of the nation’s Workers’ Party, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reports.

The 9th Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) fully supported and approved Kim Jong Un's proposal for re-election as secretary general.

The congress emphasized that the North Korean leader is a “most outstanding political figure” who leads the WPK and the people of North Korea along a single path of victory and has rendered immense service to the country, the revolution, the “era and history.”

The congress resolution states that Kim Jong Un has made a radical change in the structure and activities of the WPK in order to consistently maintain the revolutionary nature of the party.
