YEREVAN. – Currency exchange rates usually fluctuate in the month of May, economist Hayk Mnatsakanyan told news reporters on Tuesday.

In his words, the most recent currency exchange rate fluctuations in Armenia’s financial market are conditioned by a strengthening US dollar in the international market and a season-related impact on Armenia’s domestic market.

In his view, the external factors’ affect will begin to reduce as of July, and in connection with the increase in the futures price of oil.

Also, Hayk Mnatsakanyan stated that depreciation of the currency exchange rate is reflecting positively on export. In addition, many residents of Armenia are gaining because they exchange the remittances they receive from abroad at a higher exchange rate.
