YEREVAN. – The pre-New Year-holiday shopping in Armenia seems to be more civilized this year, as compared with the previous years.

Director of the “Consumer Consulting Center” NGO, Karen Chilingaryan, said the abovementioned at a press conference on Saturday.

Get collateral consumer loans with 18-19% annual interest rate till December 30

In his words, in the case when meat and confectionery prices used to increase during this time of the year, there seems to be no such trend so far in the current year.

“This is a great achievement for us [i.e. Armenia],” added Chilingaryan. “[But] the only problem could be in the market of crops and exotic fruits, since the prices of these goods traditionally rise in our country.”

He stated that this is due to the fact that these products are not in high demand during the other times of the year.

“And taking advantage of this opportunity, some businesses [in Armenia] start raising prices on the pre-holiday days,” stressed Karen Chilingaryan.
