YEREVAN. – Former defense minister of Karabakh, Artsakh hero Samvel Banayan has been sentenced to six years in jail on charges of illegal procurement and transportation of weapons.

Two other defendants in case Sanasar Gabrielyan, Armen Poghosyan were sentenced to three and two years in jail respectively. Four others were sentenced to two years’ probation.

According to the charge, Babayan prompted a group of people to illegally purchase, transport and store Igla missile system, and he acquired unlawful property in exchange.
