Armenia should pay enough attention to the electoral processes and elimination of political propaganda in schools in the coming years, Ambassador Piotr Świtalski, Head of the Delegation of the European Union (EU) to Armenia , on Monday stated at the Universal Rights Awards Ceremony.

According to him, justice can be delayed, but the public demand for justice is increasing day by day, and justice is impossible without transparency.

"Transparency creates inconvenience for many people, but thanks to transparency it becomes possible for the society to become better," he said.

H.E. Piotr A. Świtalski awarded the Union of Informed Citizens NGO and its Programme Director Daniel Ioannisyan with the "Promoting Justice and Transparency" award.

Daniel Ioannisyan, in turn, noted that the majority, including his team, expressed conviction that everything was predetermined in the election, but they did not come up with that idea, taking investigative actions.

"Everything will be predetermined when we begin to accept the idea that it is impossible to change anything," he said.

Since 2012, the Universal Rights Awards Ceremony was the first initiative of the international community to highlight contributions of Armenia’s civil and political rights activists, government officials, media and civil society representatives to the promotion of human rights.

Armenian officials, foreign diplomats, civil society and press representatives attended the event.
