The explosion in the New York City subway was a terror-related accident, said Police Commissioner James O'Neil, The Independent reported.

The detainee intended to detonate the device, said James O'Neil. In answer to a question about whether it was Isis-related, James O'Neil said that the suspect made statements, but they would not answer that question at that time.

According to New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, the suspect was taken into custody.

The police said that the suspect was wearing an “improvised low-tech explosive device.”

As reported earlier, the man, detained in the explosion in New York, a 27-year-old Akayed Ullah, who has lived in Brooklyn for seven years. Ullah sustained burns to his hands and torso.  Three more people were injured after the accident.

Bill de Blasio called the explosion “an attempted terror attack", adding that it was lucky that the suspect had not achieved his ultimate goals.
