A meeting of the foreign ministers will take place over North Korea on January 16 in Vancouver.

The meeting is organized by Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and his Canadian counterpart Christia Freeland, AP reported.

Representatives of 20 countries will participate in the meeting. The meeting in Vancouver is designed to intensify the campaign of “maximum pressure” on Pyongyang, which Washington defends to not let North Korea proceeds in developing weapons. The participants will discuss cooperation over sanctions, the prevention of arms proliferation and diplomatic efforts.

The meeting is attended by foreign ministers and high-ranking diplomats of countries that sent troops or humanitarian aid to the UN command that supported South Korea in the struggle against the North and its allies during the Korean War of 1950-53.

China and Russia were not invited.
