YEREVAN. – Chief of the General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces Artak Davtyan does not link Azerbaijan’s shelling in the direction of Tavush province with the Shant 2018 military drills.

According to him, the general situation has not changed.

“Over the past 10 days, the adversary has been shelling the settlements. No one has been injured. The adversary’s actions are rather an attempt to exert moral pressure,” Davtyan told reporters.

He noted, that yesterday Voskepar-Baghanis road was shelled, following the shelling in the villages of Kochi and Vazashen.

“We resort to retaliatory actions, suppressing firing points. However, the Supreme Council ordered to refrain from opening fire on settlements,” said the head of the General Staff.

According to him, this year the adversary intensified on the Nakhchivan direction. It has both objective and subjective reasons, however, the Armenian army sees no reason to worry about it.
