YEREVAN. – The observers from the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights are in Armenia to make sure that election complies with international standards, with the Armenian electoral code and other laws, head of the mission, Ambassador Urszula Gacek told reporters.

“We have to be nonpartisan and absolutely independent. So we cannot be swayed by any political sympathies. We leave political interpretation to others,” Gacek said, adding that they are well aware of unique atmosphere around the early parliamentary election.

The Ambassador noted that they had no major concerns over pre-election campaign.

Asked to compare this process with the previous elections, head of the OSCE/ODIHR observation mission said they do not like to compare between elections. She added that one can find the assessment of previous elections on the OSCE website and is free to draw his own conclusions.

“As a rule we do not compare one election with another and one country with another,” she emphasized.

Urszula Gacek added that initial results will be summed up during the media conference on Monday, while in-depth analysis, including recommendations, will be available in two months.
