YEREVAN. – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Armenia has commented on Azerbaijan Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov statement that, after a long time, Armenia and Azerbaijan have been able to reach a certain mutual understanding on the Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) conflict, for the first time.

“The message succeeding the [recent] meeting [in Milan] notes that [Armenia’s Acting Foreign Minister] Zohrab Mnatsakanyan and Elmar Mammadyarov agreed to continue the meetings in the near future, maintaining the formed dynamics,” Armenian MFA spokesperson Anna Naghdalyan said, in particular, in this regard.

As per Naghdalyan, another agreement was reached regarding the joint statement by the FMs of Armenia and Azerbaijan as well as the heads of delegations of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair countries (Russia, US, and France). In the Armenian MFA spokesperson’s words, it became possible in Milan to reach an agreement on the text of this joint statement.

“The maintenance of non-confrontational, non-inimical tone in public statements with regard to such complicated matters is already good,” Anna Naghdalyan added, above all.
