Within the scope of the official visit of the President of Georgia, a wide-format meeting of the delegations led by the Presidents of Armenia and Georgia was held today at the President’s Residence.

President of Armenia Armen Sarkissian welcomed the first official visit of President of Georgia Salome Zourabichvili to Armenia and stated that today the histories of the two nations are combined with their potential for the future. “This is a very wide spectrum of cooperation, starting from our cultural and educational heritage and ending with new technologies, artificial intelligence, energy, transport, tourism and more,” President Sarkissian said. “There is tremendous potential, and in this potential, I very highly appreciate the direct and concrete cooperation in certain sectors. This cooperation has to be multifaceted.”

President of Georgia Salome Zourabichvili said that the representative delegation led by her certifies the extent to which she and the delegation are interested in relations with Armenia. “Although our region is tense and mixed up, we have managed to maintain stability and our attractiveness,” the President of Georgia said, stating that many new programs and projects are being predetermined in different directions due to maintenance of stability.

During the conversation, the parties stated that there are great opportunities to enhance cooperation in tourism, energy, infrastructures, new technologies, culture and education.

The Presidents of both countries also exchanged views on partnership at the international levels, as well as on regional issues and agreed that stability and predictability are major and necessary conditions for development.

The President of Georgia invited her Armenian counterpart to participate in the “European Path of Georgia” to be held in Batumi in July, and in his turn, President Sarkissian invited the President of Georgia to participate in the Armenian Summit of Minds event to be held in Dilijan in June.
