In this stage, the objective is to have the nature protection inspection body immediately launch operations in the Amulsar gold mine and identify the problems, if there are such. This is what head of the My Step faction of the National Assembly of Armenia Lilit Makunts told journalists at the National Assembly today.

According to her, in this stage, the issue is related to the construction works that need to be conducted in the first stage, not exploitation of the gold mine. “In his speech addressed to the public, the Prime Minister emphasized that even if any violation is noticed during the construction works, the inspection body will take all the necessary actions. If the problems are not eliminated within 90 days, there will be no other actions. The My Step faction agrees with this,” she declared.

When asked if it is likely for the government to open the roads leading to the Amulsar gold mine by force, if the residents of Jermuk town don’t open the roads, Makunts said it would be better to wait to see how the developments unfold and address the relevants with any other questions regarding this issue.
