The 48 hours that was given to former Prosecutor General of Armenia Gevorg Kostanyan was a reasonable time limit to show up to the body implementing proceedings, but he declared that he has no intention to come. This is what deputy of the My Step faction of the National Assembly Andranik Kocharyan told journalists today.

“When I see how the former Prosecutor General of Armenia ignores the decision of a major state institution, I am surprised at how that person was the head of the Prosecutor General’s Office. I can’t understand how he was overseeing the investigation of criminal cases. Perhaps he was treating those cases the way he is treating the current criminal case, which is related to the events of March 1, 2008 and is very important for our country,” he stated.

Kocharyan assumes that Kostanyan isn’t coming to Armenia because he knows the volume of the material of the criminal case concerning him and the content of the charge.

The deputy also believes ex-police chief of Yerevan Ashot Karapetyan, who died as a result of a gas explosion, could have given an important testimony, if the trial over the case of the events of March 1, 2008 began.
