YEREVAN. – An Armenian court considers the motion on arrest of country's former prosecutor general Gevorg Kostanyan filed by investigators.

Kostanyan's lawyer plans to appeal Special Investigation Service's decision to put his client on wanted list.

On November 25, the SIS announced including Kostanyan's in the "March 1 case" as an accused, while also informing him that he had been given 48 hours to come in order to be charged.

Kostanyan, who reports that he is in Moscow, does not consider the request to come within 48 hours reasonable, whereas SIS chief Sasun Khachatryan had told reporters that if Kostanyan failed to come within 48 hours, the SIS will carry out legal action.

On September 25, the SIS had issued a statement on bringing charges against former police chief Alik Sargsyan, and Kostanyan and former deputy chief of police Gevorg Mheryan were also mentioned in this statement.

Within the framework of the "March 1 case” Gevorg Kostanyan has become an accused on charges abuse of power, goad to official fraud, goad to conceal a serious crime, and goad to falsify evidence in a criminal case on a serious crime.
