A participant in a Georgia 10K run, who was caught slapping a female reporter's behind while she was on air, has been arrested in the US, Fox News reported.

Thomas Callaway, a 43-year-old youth minister from Statesboro, was charged with sexual battery.

The video clip of Callaway smacking the rear of TV news American Armenian reporter Alex Bozarjian as he was taking part in the Dec. 7 Savannah Bridge Run 10K has been viewed more than 12 million times on Twitter as of Saturday morning.

Immediately after this incident, Bozarjian continued her work, but after which she lodged a complaint with the police. She told police that the man also used force to grab her rear.

Bozarjian later expressed outrage at the incident, expressing her anger on her Twitter account.

Callaway's action has also provoked outrage from the said TV channel's management.

Later, Callaway made a televised appearance and apologized to Bozarjian. He admitted that his actions were unacceptable and apologized also to the journalist's family and relatives.

At the same time, the man stated that he did not intend to hit the woman's rear.
