Paris intends to do its best to normalize the political situation in Lebanon, said French President Emmanuel Macron, AFP reported.

"We will do everything, during this deep crisis that they are going through, to help ... our Lebanese friends," Macron said, while speaking alongside Israeli President Reuven Rivlin.

Lebanese President Michel Aoun commissioned Hassan Diab, an independent Sunni politician, to form a new republican government on December 19 last year after Saad Hariri, the head of the coalition cabinet, resigned on October 29 amid mass protests. The new PM promised to develop a realistic reform plan to save Lebanon and said that he shared the demands of the popular protest movement, which, he said, gave the right direction to political life.

The Lebanese president approved the composition of the new government on January 21, headed by PM Diab. It includes 20 technocrat ministers representing the country's Christian and Muslim communities.
