In states where you can see people closely without using masks, 'that's a recipe for disaster,' CNN reported referring to Dr. Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.

"There are some states in which the leadership and the decision [to open up] was a little too precipitous," he said. "There are others when the leadership did it right, but the citizenry didn't listen to them.Э

Fauci noted in states where you can see people congregating closely without using masks, "that's a recipe for disaster."

According to him, he was optimistic about the prospect of a vaccine by the end of the year, but it was unclear how effective it would be, adding that not a single vaccine would be 100% effective.
