After the coronavirus, people in Armenia should be given a monthly support of at least 75% of their monthly salary, and not 60,000 drams only once. Gagik Tsarukyan—chairman of the opposition Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP), MP, and business tycoon—noted this Friday during his meeting with the PAP regional structure in Kotayk Province.

"Because it’s the state that has made a decision and banned people from working [during this COVID-19 pandemic]. (…). The budget money does not come from the air, it belongs to the people, and it should correctly serve its purpose," he added.

Tsarukyan also touched upon the issue of freedom fighters, noting that the state should allocate money from the budget to freedom fighters and give privileges to them, regardless of whether they became disabled or remained healthy.

"I have said from day one that the fight against the epidemic is ineffective and fruitless [in Armenia]. We [Armenia] have the worst numbers [in this regard] (…). The anti-epidemic measures do not correctly serve their purpose. (…). Today, 1,150 people have already died [so far in Armenia due to the coronavirus]," the PAP leader said.

Tsarukyan also touched upon the issue of slaughterhouses, noting that the Armenian state should subsidize slaughterhouses for the first two years. "We will raise that issue once again in the National Assembly," he added.

The PAP leader considers that there is no banking system in Armenia, and that it is rather a pawnshop system. "During this epidemic, the state must subsidize the banks. And people should not be given a loan payment holiday, but a [loan] forgiveness be granted [to them]," Gagik Tsarukyan said.
