Russian authorities welcome the possibility of giving Russian the status of a second state language in Nagorno-Karabakh [(Artsakh)], Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, MK reports.

According to him, Russian is used in Karabakh, as well as in Armenia and Azerbaijan.

He added that this language is spoken "in many places in the world, including the territory of the former Soviet Union."

Peskov stressed that Russian is a convenient language for communication, and Moscow is ready to further promote the spread of Russian, as well as to assist in the mastery of this language.

The Kremlin representative added, however, that Russia does not propose to make Russian the second state language in Armenia and Azerbaijan, and that this is the internal affair of each country.

The Telegram channels had reported that Nagorno-Karabakh plans to make Russian a state language as well, as the MPs of the National Assembly were preparing a bill that will give Russian the status of the second state language—after Armenian.
