STEPANAKERT. – A meeting of the Standing Committee on Defense, Security and Law Enforcement of the Artsakh National Assembly (Nagorno-Karabakh NA) was convened Friday. Armenian News-NEWS.am was informed about this from the Artsakh NA.

Matters related to the police system were on the agenda.

In particular, the amended version of the bill "On Making Amendments and Addenda to the Law on Service in the Police" was introduced on May 21.

The bill makes several proposes, including also appointing to the positions of the Artsakh Police its citizens who are at the same time citizens of another country, and reserving to the President of Artsakh the right to confer the main ranks of the police.

Artsakh Police Chief Artyom Harutyunyan explained the necessity of all these legislative changes, after which he answered the MPs questions, and then the NA aforesaid committee voted unanimously in favor of these law proposals.
