The EU welcomed the news of the meeting of representatives of Armenia and Turkey in Moscow, EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia Toivo Klaar tweeted.

"Normalisation of relations and opening of communications is an important objective that the EU fully supports," he said.

The first meeting between Yerevan and Ankara special envoys is being held in Moscow on January 14.

Armenia's special envoy is Ruben Rubinyan, and Turkey's special envoy is Serdar Kilic, the former ambassador to the U.S.
