Finns have started saving on alcohol, sales of the state monopoly of alcohol production and sales Alko has fallen by almost 12 percent compared to last October, Verkkouutiset reported.

5.9 million liters were sold in the country, compared to 6.7 million in 2021. The greatest decline in demand was observed for sparkling wines - 17.5 percent.

In second place were red wine (down 13.8 percent), beer (12.9 percent), white wine (10.8 percent), spirits (9.3 percent) and rosé (7.9 percent).

The publication noted that the increase in the cost of Alko products during the year was quite moderate, on average about 2.3 percent.
