Azerbaijan detained a 68-year-old citizen of Artsakh, who was transferred to a medical institution of the Republic of Armenia through the Red Cross for treatment, State Minister of Artsakh Gurgen Nersisyan said on Facebook.

According to Nersisyan, today, Azerbaijan detained a 68-year-old citizen of Artsakh, from among the patients being transported to medical institutions of the Republic of Armenia through the mediation of ICRC, and transferred him from the checkpoint to another place. And all this while being called to respect at least the mission of the International Committee of the Red Cross.

“At the moment, the ICRC representative is with our citizen, but the negotiations have not yielded any results yet, we are waiting for new information.

In the same procession, our citizens who were transported to Armenia accompanied by the ICRC representative from the city of Goris were transferred to Goris Medical Center, and the procession returning our citizens who were treated in Armenia to Artsakh was canceled.

It is noteworthy that Azerbaijan has always tried in every possible way to obstruct the process of transferring patients to Armenia even through the ICRC and every time presented the Red Cross with new conditions, and this was another step to create fear among people of passing through the [Berdzor] Lachin Corridor even for the purpose of treatment.

These are the day-by-day consequences of recognizing the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and calling Artsakh Azerbaijan, of the scarce efforts from Armenian authorities to condemn the months-long crimes against the people of Artsakh, and the almost inactive behavior of the international community. These consequences must be prevented at any cost.

Armenians, I am crying out again and again, wake up, stand up to all of this." he wrote.
