During the talk with his Iranian counterpart, Mohammad Reza Gharaei Ashtiani, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu confirmed the commitment to cooperation in the South Caucasus in the "3+3" format, TASS reports, citing Tasnim news agency.
Shoigu expressed solidarity with his colleague that the "3+3" format is the best peaceful solution to the problems in the South Caucasus region.
Also, the Minister of Defense of Russia supported Iran's position regarding the recent events in the South Caucasus and criticizes the presence of third countries in the region.
For his part, Ashtiani stated that maintaining the territorial integrity of the countries of the South Caucasus region is one of the red lines for Iran. Also, he lauded the successful track record of cooperation with Russia, including in the fight against terrorism in the Middle East.
