Today we must actively work on a peace agreement with Armenia. I hope that we will achieve this and on this basis we will create a political environment and situation in the South Caucasus, where trilateral cooperation will take place with the participation of Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said at a joint briefing with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili in Tbilisi, Georgian First channel reports.

Aliyev stated, "If Armenia agrees, then bilateral and trilateral meetings will immediately commence here in Georgia."

“As you know, today a number of countries and international organizations act as facilitators in the normalization process, Georgia and Azerbaijan take a receptive position, this is an impartial position in relation to the territorial integrity of our countries. We accept any help, but my idea is that the most correct choice, be it historical aspect or any other, from a geographical point of view, we need Georgia to be involved in this situation, and I thank Mr. Prime Minister for his willingness to assist us in this matter and for offering us his role as a mediator. This is a country that is ready, and we expect the same from Armenia. If Armenia gives its consent, we will immediately begin bilateral and trilateral meetings here in Georgia through the relevant departments,” Aliyev said.
