The Nagorno-Karabakh problem, Armenian-Turkish reconciliation and ratification of the Armenian-Turkish protocols will certainly be discussed at the forthcoming Obama-Erdogan meeting, Giro Manoyan, Head of the Hay Dat (Armenian Cause) office, Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF), told NEWS.am.

According to him, Turkey will without fail try to link the Armenian-Turkish reconciliation with the Nagorno-Karabakh problem. In turn, he said, President Barack Obama will try to pressure Recep Erdogan into getting the Armenian-Turkish protocols signed as soon as possible. “It is not at all in Armenia’s interests that the U.S. President will pressure Turkey. Rather, making use of the Armenian-Turkish protocols, he will try to pressure Ankara to achieve different aims, which have nothing in common with Armenia and Armenians. Armenia should not have any special expectations from the meeting. I personally would prefer it did not take place at all,” Manoyan said.

Yesterday, Turkish Premier Recep Erdogan and his wife Amina Erdogan arrived in the United States. The Turkish delegation includes Vice-Premier Ali Babacan, State Minister Egemen Bagis, Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu, Vice-Chief of the Joint Staff Aslan Güner. The Turkish delegation is staying at the Willards Intercontinental hotel. The Obama-Erdogan meeting is to be followed by a press conference. The talks will be focused on Iran’s nuclear program, Turkey-Armenian reconciliation, Cyprus, Nagorno-Karabakh and Kurdish problems, issues of dispatching additional troops to Afghanistan and the recent Israel-Turkey cooldown.
