YEREVAN. – Armenian National Assembly (NA) Deputy Speaker, and Armenia-Lithuania Friendship Group Chairman, Eduard Sharmazanov on Wednesday had a telephonic conversation with Algis Kaseta, member of the Lithuania-Artsakh (Karabakh) friendship initiative group in the Lithuanian Seimas (Parliament).

Sharmazanov welcomed the initiative, to form a Lithuania-Artsakh Friendship Group, which nine Seimas members have signed under, NA press service informs. In his words, this is an important aspect—which is anchored in democratic standards—toward the international recognition of the independence of Nagorno-Karabakh. In the Armenian parliament vice-chair’s words, the Lithuanian MPs did not succumb to Azerbaijani provocations, and proved that they support the idea of independence and liberty.

In his turn, Kaseta underscored the need for such initiatives, and expressed a hope that the formation of such group in the Lithuanian Seimas will become a precedent for other parliaments.

The interlocutors also highlighted the ongoing interaction between the Armenian and Lithuanian parliaments, and toward bettering Armenian-Lithuanian friendly relations.
