YEREVAN. – Armenia’s President, Serzh Sargsyan, on Thursday met with Ambassador Philippe Lefort, the EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the Crisis in Georgia.  

Sargsyan pointed with delight to the dynamics of the political discourse and the cooperation between Armenia and the EU, and the progress that is achieved in the Armenia-EU Association Agreement talks, the President’s Press Office informed Armenian News-NEWS.am. He also underscored the high-level mutual visits.  

The Armenian President expressed a conviction that the EU leadership’s and the European organizations’ positive assessments on the political processes in Armenia—specifically, with respect to the presidential election that was conducted on February 18—are good impetus for the development of relations.

In his turn, the EU special representative noted that he joins the EU leaders’ congratulations that was extended to President Sargsyan on his reelection, and he wished him success in his second tenure and, also, in Armenia’s European integration initiatives. Lefort stressed that Armenia is an important country for the EU. 

Serzh Sargsyan and Philippe Lefort also reflected on regional developments and the post-election processes in Armenia.
