YEREVAN. – Within the framework of his official visit to Greece, Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian met with Speaker Evangelos Meimarakis of the Hellenic Parliament.   

The interlocutors noted that the cooperation between the parliaments and the activities by the interparliamentary friendship groups of both countries contribute to the development of interstate relations and deepening of friendship between the peoples, Armenian MFA press service informs.        

Nalbandian and Meimarakis also underscored the role of the Greek-Armenian community in consolidating bilateral ties. 

Armenia’s FM briefed the Greek parliament leader on the Armenia-EU interaction and Armenia’s engagement in the processes taking place within the Eastern Partnership format.   

In addition, Nalbandian expressed gratitude in  connection with the Hellenic Parliament’s recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide.

At the Greek parliament, Nalbandian also met with Apostolos Kaklamanis, the Chairman of the Friendship Group with Armenia and former Speaker of the Hellenic Parliament, and the members of this group.       

The discussants noted that the Armenian-Greek relations have solely developed and the close cooperation unites the two countries. The interlocutors likewise highly appreciated the role of the Greek-Armenian community in broadening bilateral collaboration.
