YEREVAN. – A new EU funded project, Targeted Initiative for Armenia, will hold an opening conference in capital city Yerevan on Friday. The Head of the EU Delegation to Armenia, H.E. Ambassador Traian Hristea and General Director of French Office for Immigration and Integration, Yannick Imbert will deliver welcoming remarks at the event.

According to Director Virginie Artot of Targeted Initiative for Armenia, the objective of this project is to strengthen Armenia’s management capacities with a special focus on reintegration activities.

“We would work with competent authorities and civil society to increase their capacity to actively support dignified sustainable return and reintegration of Armenians to homeland,” Artot said. “We will also address challenges posed by irregular migration, promote safe and legal migration and strengthen the positive impact of migration on Armenia’s social development.”

The project entitled “Strengthening Armenia’s management capacities, with special focus on reintegration activities in the framework of the EU-Armenia Mobility Partnership” is implemented by the French Office for Immigration and Integration (OFII), with the participation of  organizations and experts from Belgium, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland and Romania. The budget of the project is three million euros and the duration is three years.
