YEREVAN. – Armenia’s Ambassador to Canada, Armen Yeganyan, on Tuesday met with Bob Dechert, the Parliamentary Secretary to the Foreign Affairs Minister of Canada.

The parties discussed bilateral relations and interparliamentary ties, and conversed about the economic ties between Armenia and Canada, Armenian MFA press service informs. Yeganyan underscored the need to increase Canadian investments to Armenia, and explored the prospects for developing Armenian-Canadian trade and economic relations.

Subsequently, Armenia’s ambassador briefed Dechert on the current geopolitical situation in the South Caucasus. In this context, Yeganyan noted that the sole format for settling the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is the OSCE Minsk Group and that Armenia appreciates Canada’s assistance to the respective efforts by the Group.

Reflecting on the track-record toward normalizing Armenian-Turkish relations, Ambassador Yeganyan informed that the Armenian party had initiated the normalization process without preconditions and, as a result, the two well-known protocols were signed but, now, the Turkish authorities have returned to the language of preconditions.    

At the end of the talk, Armen Yeganyan and Bob Dechert stressed the high level of working relations between Armenia’s embassy and Canada’s state agencies.
