YEREVAN. – The persons, who were detained along the lines of the criminal case that is launched into the June 2 murder in front of the home of the governor of Armenia’s Syunik Region, are arrested.
Decisions were made on Monday to lay charges against Zarzand Nikoghosyan and Tigran Khachatryan, MOD Investigation Service informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.
On the same day, petitions were filed with the General Instance Court of Syunik Region, with a request to have Nikoghosyan and Khachatryan arrested. The court ruled in favor of these petitions and ruled against the bail petitions which their legal defenders had filed.
As Armenian News-NEWS.am informed earlier, shots were fired nearby Syunik Regional Governor Suren Khachatryan’s home, on June 2 at around 12:10am, as a result of which one person was killed and two others sustained gunshot wounds and were taken to Goris city hospital. The person who died was Avo Budaghyan, the former Goris mayoral candidate. The wounded are Budaghyan’s brother Artak, and Nikolay Abrahamyan, a relative and bodyguard of Khachatryan.
A criminal case is launched on charges of murder and illegal carrying, possession, and use of arms and ammunition, and an investigation is underway.
Subsequently, the wounded were transferred to capital city Yerevan. Artak Budaghyan is in stable but very critical condition while Nikolay Abrahamyan is in stable but critical condition.
Some people were detained in connection with this incident. One of them was the Syunik regional governor’s son, Tigran Khachatryan, 19, and another was the governor’s bodyguard, Zarzand Nikoghosyan.
