YEREVAN. – The Armenian capital city Yerevan public transport will become even more profitable for the private sector, said “Informed and Protected Consumer” NGO Chairman Babken Pipoyan, during a press conference on Saturday.
He added that the state did not present any strong arguments to the people as to why the natural gas price and the public transport fare have increased by such disproportionate amount.
“The price of gas at the border does not depend on us. But it is clear for everyone that the transport fare is a very appealing business. But the public transport is unable to solve the problem of passenger flow, unless new bunches of buses are imported to Yerevan,” Pipoyan stated.
In his view, the government should manage the public transport issue.
“It would be better if this profit goes to the state budget and amounts are allocated from it to take care of our needs,” Babken Pipoyan maintained.
