As a manifestation of goodwill in the context of resuming peace talks, Israel plans to release 82 of the 103 Palestinians that are in prisons for more than twenty years.   

The release, however, will not be carried out simultaneously, but rather in four phases and in parallel with progress in the negotiations, the Israeli media report.   

The first group of the convicts may be set free two months after the resumption of the talks. 

The aforesaid decision covers those Palestinians that were put in Israeli prisons before the signing of the 1993 peace talks in Oslo. The majority of them are activists of the Fatah movement, whose central committee is led by Palestine’s leader Mahmoud Abbas, reports ITAR-TASS News Agency of Russia.
