YEREVAN. – Passengers in Yerevan must pay 100 drams for public transport instead of 150, secretary of Heritage party Stepan Safaryan said.

Safaryan believes the municipality’s decision to raise transport fares is ungrounded.

“It seems that Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan does not come out of his office and hardly knows what is going on in the city. His statements cannot be interpreted in other way,” Safaryan noted.

The oppositionist believes public protest and free expression of the will of society is extremely important and must be continued. In this case, perhaps, the decision will be reconsidered.

Public transport fares in Armenia’s capital rose by 1.5-2 times starting from July 20. The bus fare made AMD 100 instead of 50, while minibus fare increased from AMD 100 to 150.
