YEREVAN. – Armenian youth are celebrating their victory on public transport fares. The decision to cancel rise in bus fare prices was welcomed by applause in the streets of Armenia’s capital.
Each passing bus and minibus is welcomed with cheers. Young men are approaching the buses and are sticking signs reading “Fee-100 drams.” No clashes with police or drivers have been registered.
Mayor of Yerevan Taron Margaryan has convened consultation with the participation of those responsible for transport sector. The decision to review the public transport fares has been canceled.
