YEREVAN. – In the past week, the Central Bank of Armenia purchased $1.2 million from NASDAQ OMX Armenia stock exchange.

Hence, the bank is continuing its policy of preventing a strong increase of the Armenian national currency, the dram, during the agricultural season in the country.

To note, the “peak” for the exchange rate was the month of March, when the bank was forced to sell $44.8 million to prevent a sharp fall of the dram.

Subsequently, however, the Central Bank has solely made purchases in the foreign exchange market.
