YEREVAN. – In line with the official indicators issued by the Armenian National Statistical Service, over 1,143 very small stores in capital city Yerevan have ceased their activities during the last one year, Haykakan Zhamanak daily reports.

“As of July 1 of this year, 6,768 such stores operated in Yerevan, whereas this was 7,911 as of July 1 of last year. In other words, the very small stores in Yerevan have reduced by about 15 percent.

“The situation is the same in the case of very small stores that provide services. [A total of] 390 such entities in Yerevan ceased their operations in one year.

“This is another proof that all domains of economy in Armenia are enlarging and finding themselves in the hands of several wealthy. And our citizens that lose their small businesses are leaving the country,” Haykakan Zhamanak writes.
