YEREVAN. – A new Facebook initiative is launched, whose objective is to fight against the Armenian capital city Yerevan Municipality decision on paid parking spots.

“The decision on paid parking locations is unlawful and it does not stem from public interest. The public areas [of Yerevan] are allocated to a private company, which will receive 70 percent of the revenue to be received from the parking locations.

“The private company is given the database of the residents that own cars; the private company plans to make video recordings, impose fines upon the Armenian citizens, which is a flagrant violation of the Constitution [of Armenia] and human rights.

“Considering the proposals to make use of civil disobedience as a means of struggle, we will not pay for the illegal parking spots. The struggle continues in all domains,” specifically reads the respective statement by the organizers of this movement.
