YEREVAN. – A ban on installing a tent or a sunshade for activists holding a sit-in strike near Yerevan municipality is a manifestation of fascist nature of state officials, the opposition representative claims.

“You have to be a misanthrope not to let put up a tent in the heat,” Heritage party member Stepan Safaryan said.

An activist Anna Kaghinyan noted that during a protest several activists had health problems because of the heat and were hospitalized.

“Activists continue to fight, because the decisions of the mayor to raise fares have not been canceled. The decision was suspended and at any time the mayor can get them back,” she said.

She noted that Ombudsman’s office has been stating for two weeks that they make every effort for the authorities to set up a tent. However, these efforts have not led to the expected result.
