YEREVAN. – Armenian News-NEWS.am has learned that capital city Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan relieved Narek Sargsyan of his duties as Chief Architect of Yerevan.

To note, there is a presidential decree on setting up a state committee on architecture at the Armenian government. 

According to widespread rumors, Sargsyan will head this committee, stated Mkrtich Minasyan, Head of the Union of Architects of Armenia, in an interview with Armenian News-NEWS.am. 

And, in all likelihood, Tigran Barseghyan, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture at Yerevan State University of Architecture and Construction, will be appointed as the new Chief Architect of Yerevan.

As Armenian News-NEWS.am informed earlier, however, Barseghyan had told Armenian News-NEWS.am that there had been no decree yet on his appointment. He categorically refused to comment on the issue until an official announcement is made.
